In need of a break from routine, we decided to travel to Hereford. What an adventure. Travelling to a foreign country!!

We stopped en route in Monmouth, a lovely county town (once home to Mr Royce of motoring fame). After a stroll around, we took the back roads to our destination.

Hereford Cathedral is most famous for the Mappa Mundi and the oldest Chained Library in the world. It’s a beautiful building on a site that appointed its first Bishop in 637ce. The current building dates from around 1279ce

Another backroads route took us home through the border counties and South Wales valleys.
