To Newquay, Cornwall - Monday, 5 October 2026

‍A reasonable departure time of 10:00 from Llantrisant, but with 5 tours departing at the same time this meant, for the first time, we were to become a part of an Edwards’ interchange at Cardiff West. Fortunately, our coach (upgraded to previous model Red Dragon) was departing from Llantrisant, so we had our seats from the outset.

‍It was fortunate, because the interchange was barely organised chaos. Cardiff West, it appears, is an interchange for several coach operators, so the Edwards Coaches had to park interspersed between other companies. It took a while, but everyone, and their cases, ended up on the right coach.

‍Another similar, less chaotic (just slightly less) event repeated at Magor; sit back and relax solves most things!

‍Apart from that the journey to Cornwall was effortless.

‍The hotel, first impressions: It’s clean modern and well laid out. The staff can’t move quickly enough to answer a question, resolve a small issue or generally be helpful.

‍Our room (we upgraded) is very spacious, well equipped and has all the little things we like: kettle, biscuits, a wide selection of tea, coffee & milk, bottled water, drinking glasses made of glass, fridge, lots of drawers, walk in wardrobe, and more.

‍The omens are good!

‍The evening meal was excellent; pub grub raised to restaurant standards; generous and delicious.
