Kitzbühel
A charming place for a stroll. The pavement café routine began in earnest with hot chocolate on the agenda. It’s so different to home, almost as if they dissolve real chocolate in milk - thick and creamy. Our 90 minute visit was perfect timing.
Margaret’s been looking for good quality over-glasses, her current quality pair were bought in Germany a few years ago. Found in a very friendly opticians in the main square.
Zell-am-Zee
A really, really pretty lakeside town with plenty of scenery to soak in. So relaxing.
After a stroll, we found The Grand Hotel (pictured) which had a lakeside café and a musician, Stephan Herzog, playing “oompah” music. He often played two instruments at once - accordion, trumpet, cow-bells, glockespiel, trombone, guitar and a few others - and had a half-decent singing voice. An amazingly good way to enjoy apfel strudel, iced tea and beer in warm sunshine.
Train Ride to Neidersill
We rounded off the day with a train ride, partly along the lake, to Neidersill for another scenic overdose. Our coach was waiting at the station to take us back to the hotel
An exceptional day out.
