St Ives - Wednesday, 7 October 2026

‍Another great breakfast, then off to St Ives at 10:00, about an hour away.

‍The coach park is on the outskirts of town and St Ives is very hilly. Fortunately, there’s a frequent bus service into town, so not a problem.

‍It’s a charming place, based around the harbour area (at least the touristy bit is). When we arrived the harbour was completely dry; a beach with boats marooned on the sand. During the next hour or so,  the tide came in very very quickly and was soon splashing waves onto the promenade.

‍What was most surprising was the number of dogs we saw being walked. There wasn’t a moment, at any time, when we couldn’t see at least 4 or 5 of them - every thing from a Chihuahua to a Great Dane, and all sizes in between.

‍We had the most enjoyable day strolling the promenade and a few shopping streets, stopping for teas, pasties and clotted cream scones. All very laid-back and relaxing.

‍The “shuttle” service took us back to the coach park for about 14:50. Thank goodness for the bus. It seemed a long way going down - it seemed a lot further and stepper on the way back. An unusual service bus, however; the driver stopped at a viewpoint so we could get off and take photographs!!

‍Everyone was back, 15 minutes early (15:15), so we arrived at the hotel by 16:15.
