‍Today was an excursion to Monte Carlo. The Grand Prix starts this weekend and so, with road closures and the rest, the excursion involves parking outside the city at the football stadium, shuttle buses and a walking tour. We’d visited Monaco before, so we (and a few others) thought better of it and so we stayed in Diano Marina.

‍A leisurely breakfast for us (08:15) and little relaxing, then a stroll into town from about 10:00. It’s a small but delightful town; wide promenade, pedestrian shopping streets and a very quiet laid-back feel.

‍We took the opportunity to shop for some gifts for our 5yo granddaughter, enjoying the morning sunshine.

‍Back at the hotel we settled down in the beach café/bar for a relaxed lunch on a shaded terrace overlooking the sea - what could be better?

‍The afternoon was spent in our room, reading, having a nap and starting the packing (in my case watching and offering moral support).

‍The excursioners arrived back around 17:50 saying they’d had a great day out (if a bit tiring).

‍Last meal tonight. Is there room on the coach to kidnap the chef?
