Edwards Red Dragon
Richard & Jonathan
After another banquet of a breakfast we set off to Alassio around 10:00, just 45 minute away.
Very much a seaside, beach resort. You could barely see the sand for the large number of delightful cafés and bars that lined the promenade.
It had a pier (a mole really). Not the pleasure piers of England’s south coast; a practical landing pier for boats and a location from which the local youths could throw themselves into the sea. Some great views of the town and the coastline from the end of the pier.
At the pier’s entrance was a café. Time to support the local economy.
Charming, narrow shopping streets offered plenty of shade and more cafés serving splendid cakes and drinks. The local economy? Thriving!
We set off back to the hotel at 13:00 (great timing, once again). The road had some of the most incredible views, winding its way, hugging the coastline, arriving back just before 14:00.
Another successful, enjoyable excursion.
