Breakfast at 07:00. Quite a surprise. Everything you could imagine available (well… almost) with an outside table on a shaded terrace, overlooking the harbour filled with very expensive private yachts. Wow!
Our courier, Richard, established it would be a 20 minute walk into town along a pretty promenade. (In fact, we think we’re staying in a suburb, called Santa Lucia). Not so good in temperatures like these. So he offered to provide a FREE shuttle service into town, departing at 10:30, returning at 14:30. They’re putting themselves out for our convenience (it’s their “free day”) - what a good sign for the rest of the holiday!
St Raphaël is a very pretty, if busy, Côte d’Azur town. Lots of very expensive yachts in the harbour and inviting cafés and restaurants lining the streets. We took the “Noddy” train for a trip around town (as did most of our group) followed by a couple of hours strolling and browsing the many shops. A shared calzone and a (€12 😳) beer took care of lunch. Back at the hotel for 14:45.
We spent the afternoon in recovery from the travel. Room, terrace, tea, books, naps - perfect.
Another decent dinner rounded off a very good day.
