Oslo (Day 2) - Hadeland Glassworks

Tuesday, 24 May 2022

We woke to almost clear skies, so I photographed the view from our balcony.

Our trip today was to the Hadeland Glassworks, about a 90 minute drive through some beautiful Norwegian countryside.

It was a fascinating place to visit, partly because we were able to blow our own glass item to take home from a selection of items. We chose to make a matching pair of blue flower vases. They’ll be ideal for growing hyacinths next spring, providing KLM don’t reduce them to powder on the flights home!

Lunch was provided and we were presented with a buffet of Norwegian style salads, meats and fish along with some seriously creamy desserts.

The place is popular with local visitors at weekends, with nearby lakes for picnics. The glassworks also has children’s play areas, an adventure playground, a petting zoo (at weekends) and digging machines that actually work.

We’re planning on room service for our last evening in Norway, as we sail to Ålborg, Denmark.
