Zadar, Croatia

Oh boy! Did it rain today? Animals were lining up, 2 x 2, thinking the ship was an Ark. Unfortunately for them… no boarding passes!!

Our tour was called “Croatian Hinterland”. You picture wild countryside and dramatic vistas. You travel to a beautifully manicured coastal village (Novigrad) to visit a museum and then onto another farm for a snack of more local booze (large selection this time) and (surprise, surprise) procuitto and cheese with bread and olives.

The weather was so bad that we were only able to make a quick stop at a viewpoint to photograph Novigrad, the walk to the museum became optional (we opted out) and the promised tour of the farm to “witness” traditional farming cancelled.

We were treated (?) to a performance by the farmer who played a traditional stringed instrument whilst singing (?) folk songs.

The guide was very good, however, and achieved the near impossible by making the time spent seem largely worthwhile.

We were rewarded at sundown by a spectacular sunset that turned the buildings of Zadar a pale orange and created a rainbow across the town.
