Journey Home

Viking’s transfer arrangements were efficient, but they still have paranoia about airport delays and missed flights. We arrived at the airport around 90 minutes before check-in opened!!!

Everything else ran like clockwork. Minimal delays at security or passport control in Amsterdam. Both flights on time and…

All our bags arrived in Cardiff.

The taxi was waiting and we were home by 5:30pm

To be honest, this has not been our best experience of a Viking Cruise. The itinerary is, in parts, excellent in others poor. Apart from our bags going missing (which Viking handled poorly), there were far too many other onboard issues and mistakes (not mentioned in the postcards). The level of service and attention to detail has slipped. To be fair, housekeeping and the main restaurant were well up to the mark; on the other hand, guest services were like a second rate call-centre in Mumbai.

The big shows are still “Abba Songbook” and “The Beatles” which we think premiered in 2017. And why on this itinerary would there be presentations on The Bayeux Tapestry and other “non-Adriatic” topics.

We were in a PS1 grade cabin where you’d expect to receive the best service levels. I wonder how those in V2 grade were treated?

Apparently, the London Office “is going to be in touch”. I wonder what they’ll have to say for themselves!
