Koper, Slovenia

Sunday, 6 November 2022

The sun came back today and, although not as warm as further south (18ºC) very pleasant for a stroll. Today, we were originally booked to go to Lake Bled, but because of tides, the ship had to depart earlier than planned and Lake Bled was too far away. Quite disappointing, really - they’d have known this weeks before departure but said nothing until we were on board.

Koper is a charming small town, with a lovely waterfront. Many locals were out and about enjoying the sunshine and filling up the pavement cafés. Being Sunday, everything else was mostly closed. The town has little to offer tourists, except a single square of older buildings, although they had installed most of the Christmas street decorations - they’ll be wonderful when lit.

The port is a busy container port and the comings and going of ships were interesting to watch.

We decided that Koper would be an amazing place to live, but a somewhat pointless place to visit.

We sailed for Italy at 3:30pm and were again treated to a spectacular sunset.
